Using a compelling real-world mystery as our starting point, this workshop explores how researchers can uncover the stories of people, families, and communities by following clues hidden within historical records.
Participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of archival research, including how to identify useful sources, interpret historical documents, follow names and relationships across records, and piece together information from seemingly unrelated clues.
Whether you are researching your family history, exploring local history, investigating a historical figure, or simply curious about how historians uncover the past, this workshop will provide practical tools and strategies to help you become a better historical detective.
